My name is Corey Pudhorodsky, and while I haven't been a lifelong climate activist, I've always considered myself to be an environmentalist and someone who is rooted in understanding how important it is to protect the balance of our planet's climate while striving to help all humans achieve their full potential.
I'm a father of two with my life partner and spouse, Katie. I've worked in purpose and mission driven tech most of my career working with nonprofits, political campaigns, schools, and climate tech companies.
I'm planning on the demonstration being in public on and around the public grounds of the Texas State Capitol in Austin, TX where I live. When the Capitol grounds are open you'll find me in front of the building (likely by the shade of the trees). After hours, I'll be on the public sidewalk in front of the Capitol Grounds.
I am planning to start my demonstration on Sept 4, 2025 at 11:50am, fifty hours later, I'll finish at 1:50pm. (the ending time is in honor of the Paris Agreement and United Nations commitment to pursue efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C in order to to avert the worst impacts of climate change)
My planned schedule is currently:
Thu Sept 4, 11:50am: Start of the demonstration at the TX Capitol Grounds
Thu Sept 4, 10:00pm: Capitol Grounds close, I'll move to public sidewalks in front to the Capitol.
Friday Sept 5, 7:00am: When the Capitol Grounds open, I'll move back to the front of the building under the shade of the trees on the path.
Friday Sept 5, 10:00pm: Capitol Grounds close, I'll move to public sidewalks in front to the Capitol.
Sat Sept 6, 11:50am: Completing my 50 hour demonstration, I'll celebrate and go home and get some sleep!
I'll take short breaks to use the restroom and am asking for volunteers to help stand in for me during these times.
In the case of inclement weather, I'll move into the Capitol building during the hours it's open or post on my Substack notes with live updates of changes.
If you're in Austin, I would love to have your support and company. Join me in person! If you sign up on the 50for50 Luma Event page I'll keep you updated on my plans and details. I will need additional help and companionship during the late night and early morning hours, if you can help Thu or Fri nights, please contact me directly.
I wanted to do something more meaningful than a party or a trip and I've been increasingly concerned about how climate facts are being stripped from government websites in the United States and the general misunderstanding that the public has about the facts of climate change. I enjoy challenging myself and this is a chance to do something productive while engaging with my community and people close to me.
Fifty hours is a long time! I will be demonstrating in person for the entire time with brief breaks for hygiene and wellness. I'll have people standing in for me during these short breaks. I will be present for each hour to present each fact for every hour. My goal is to be fully engaged for the entire 50 hours.
I've updated my Take Action page with the ways that I'm asking everyone to show support and help me celebrate and raise awareness. This demonstration is an individual action I'm taking but I need help! If you have time and resources to help me make a bigger impact, here's a Wish List of Support and Supplies Needed.
